I want answers now! When I need clarity, focus, and direction, I slip on magnifiers to look for quick solutions. I need to see the end result because, I like to feel in control. Can you relate? But this approach is rarely successful. Rather than forcing an outcome, try these:
- View the situation on eternity’s timetable. Ask, “How will this affect me in the long-term?” Rushing God’s plan never forces His hand. Many times when I run ahead, it takes me longer to get to my intended destination.
- Peer and pray. Peer into the word of God. Pray. Does my spirit feel peaceful or unsettled about moving forward? Don’t discount the power of the Spirit that resides within.
- Allow someone else to wear my magnifiers. The wise counsel of those I trust, often have a different and better perspective. “The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.” Proverbs 27:9
Don’t forget, rushing God’s plan never forces His hand. Have faith.
