I was hanging out with David on our deck, questioning him about how to be funny. He had a bad case of the hiccups.
“My comedy coach said, ‘You can’t force funny.’ So how do you just let it flow?”
David let out a big sigh. “You free your mind, hiccup, momentarily filter, then let it roll.”
I narrowed my brow, “You mean, you don’t think about a response? It just comes to you?”
“Hiccup. Yea, pretty much.”
Frowning, I replied, “This is going to be difficult. How am I going to become funny? I’m stressing out!”
The David yelled, “Booooooo!”
I jumped right out of my seat and yelled, “What in God’s creation are you doing?”
“I tried to scare myself to get rid of my hiccups.”
I busted out in laughter.
“Smith, you can’t force funny. You should’ve taken my comedy workshop.”
And there you have it. I should of considered an at home comedy class. Stay tuned, I will be attending The Inner Comic Workshop on October 15th. Hopefully, they can make me funny.
Any advice on how to be more funny?
