I have some pretty amazing women in my life. I hang out with superheros. Last week, I spent the day with Wonder Woman, The Bionic Woman and Spider-Woman.
*Wonder Woman: Gifted with a wide range of superhuman powers and superior combat and battle skills—She showed me how to defend myself with a knife! She possesses an arsenal of weapons, including the Lasso of Truth (she’s downright blunt), a pair of indestructible bracelets, a tiara which serves as a projectile, and, in some stories, an invisible airplane, Mental Radio (which she utilizes to raise her six, amazing girls) and Purple Ray that could heal otherwise lethal injuries (which she has used to help overcome her difficult, life circumstances). Wonder Woman teaches me how to overcome.
*The Bionic Woman: She has been rebuilt bionically to withstand arduous situations, amplified hearing in her right ear (to make up for her son’s hearing loss in his right ear), a greatly strengthened right arm to hold up her friends when they need lifting, and stronger, enhanced legs which enable her to run at speeds exceeding 60 miles per hour (carrying her to places she never dreamed possible). The Bionic Woman shows me how to be strong.
*Spider-Woman: Scales buildings and walls with strength and agility. She has the ability to cling to most surfaces (like my heart), shoot spider-webs using wrist-mounted devices of her own invention (which gets her out of difficult situations), and react to danger quickly with her “spider-sense” (she is wise). Spider Woman encourages me to live a courageous life.
This morning, I integrate their strengths to help me face my day.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 ESV
“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 NIV
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 ESV
