It’s preposterous that I get up early every morning. You know me—I’m not a morning person so it’s counterintuitive to want to do this every day.
But I do.
I’m often asked, “Why do you get up early?”
“What do you do?”
And even though it varies, what I do is the easy part to explain.
*Get coffee. Notice this is first on my list?
*Light a candle.
*Observe how effortlessly the stars hang in the vast sky.
*Get up from my desk and kiss Zorro on the nose.
*Color while reading scripture.
*Kiss Mya on the nose.
But are those reasons enough to rise in the darkness of morning?
More than contemplating life over coffee in the wee hours, it’s about what I’m learning. I’m getting a closer glimpse of God’s crazy love.
It’s irrational really—pursuing us at all costs.
God’s greatest commandments are about loving Him and others. So each morning I spend with Him, I discover a deeper understanding of how He loves.
And when I don’t take this time, my day is amiss.
More than rituals and writing, I’m uncovering the sacred rhythms of Love.
So join me, will you? Start with just five minutes each morning.
God is the Potter, you are the clay. Are you allowing Him to shape your life?
