Ever since I was a teenager I had an ambition. I even told David if he asked me to marry him before I met this goal, that I’d say no. His response: “Well, I’m only going to ask you once. You get one shot at me.” So when he did ask me to marry him, of course I said yes. Even though my dream hadn’t come to fruition.
Now, almost thirty years later, it’s finally coming true. I’ve let a lot of dreams die when God has said no to them. But this one has always stayed aflame in my heart. I knew it was going to happen at some point, I just never knew when. And then suddenly in one conversation, it all came together. I got a phone call from a dear friend and he said, “Joanie and I are going to Italy with our family.”
“That’s fantastic! I’m so happy for you guys. I’m planning to go there someday, so you’ll have to help me plan my trip whenever I go,” I said.
“Well, that’s why I’m calling. My aunt and uncle had to cancel and we want you and David to join us. I know you’ve been wanting to go for a long time and we want to bless you.”
Seriously? My heart did a backflip and excitement flooded my veins.
I’M GOING TO ITALY!!!
Words can’t describe the excitement and anticipation I’m feeling.
So hold on. If you believe that God is keeping a dream alive in your heart, then don’t stop believing. Keep your dream alive.
He will fulfill your heart’s desire in His perfect timing.
