My desert time

“I intentionally didn’t miss my desert time.”

~ Susie Stewart

This morning, as I read my journal from 2016, I came upon two quotes from my sweet friend, Susie Stewart, who has gone home to be with the Lord.

At the time she spoke these words, she was in remission from breast cancer. Who would’ve known, just two short years later, she would be gone?

Here’s what she said about fighting cancer…or battling anything in life:

“If we never enter into the desert, we may never hunger and thirst for God.”

AND

“I intentionally didn’t miss my desert time.”

My heart was convicted. I want to skip desert times. But the wilderness is where I’ve found the truest parts of me. I’ve discovered deep strengths I never thought existed. I’ve come out of my desert steadfast and faithful. And I love who I’ve become through the journey.

Are you going through a desert time? Are you able to see what God is doing during this trek?

The desert is a place of embrace.
