There are many reasons why we give up. We justify why we shouldn’t pursue our dreams and why an extraordinary life can’t be obtained.
*It’s too difficult.
*I’m fearful of failure.
*I’m afraid to succeed.
*The unknown is uncomfortable.
*I don’t know where to begin.
*I could get hurt.
*It’s already been done—no need to try.
*My dream is too costly.
How many times have you convinced yourself of these?
And although they’re reasonable excuses, they keep us confined to comfortable. We’re left unfulfilled, wondering “what if?”, and operating in the mundane.
Could there be more?
There’s one predominate reason why we quit—it disguises itself under the layers of reasoning, hindering us the most. More than any other, the number one reason we give up: disappointment.
So let’s just get that out of the way. We will discover disappointment. There’s no avoiding it. But disappointment leads us to an important crossroad:
One road is an easy path. The sign reads, Quitter Trail; a simple trek to the familiar.
The other way takes a turn and we can’t see around the bend. The sign reads, Unknown Way; a journey for two.
As we step into the Unknown Way, we feel the Father’s hand grasp ours. Heart skips a beat. This is living. And even though we don’t know what to expect as we journey around the curve, we can rest in the assurance that He does.
The good news is…if you’ve chosen the simple trek, “His mercies are new every morning.” Each day we can choose Unknown Way.
Which path will you take today?
Do you trust Him with your dreams?
Let God amaze you—every moment.
