I suppose I shouldn’t have hidden my wish behind someone else’s. The notes on the wishing wall were packed tightly together, so hiding my longing was easy.
The wishing wall instructions:
A secret wish to set free for only women to see…
Write your wish on a tag and place it on a heart on the wall.
With my wish covered by another, I stood in the women’s bathroom reading heart’s desires.
~That I go to medical school
~Love for God
~Lord, let my parent’s health be better
~For true love
~That we all understand that we are valuable and loved
~That God will open my eyes to the next step
~Remove sadness from my heart
~Make a difference in the world
~That all will work out for good
And suddenly, it was clear—we all want the same things:
Peace, success, quality of life, love, connectedness, wisdom, purpose…and to believe that in the end, goodness wins.
I looked at the place where my wish was unseen—concealed safely behind another. Now, not feeling alone in my longings, I repositioned my note so it could be read.
I wish my sister was well.
In the tomb of our hearts with yearnings buried deep, He reads our wishes.
His heart longs to answer.
And they will be granted according to His eternal plan.
What’s your wish?
How can I pray for you?
