I hope I never lose sight of what women teach me. Each visit grows my heart.
At a Sista-Girl outing, the five of us had a leisurely visit and ended the day in some retail therapy. Here’s what they taught me:
- Laughter mends and heals hearts from life’s troubles: health issues, disappointments, hurts, depression, living in fear…….
- No matter how close we are, it’s still difficult to say, “I’m hurting.”, “I don’t feel good.”, “I need help.” — we pushed the words out, despite the struggle to say them.
- We can emerge from a dressing room uncertain about new attire and only a true, trusted friend can lovingly say, “No that doesn’t work for you.” or “That makes you look frumpy.”
- We are so hard on ourselves and only see our flaws, our friends see our beauty and tell us about it.
