Divine Symmetry
I heard the saying, “divine symmetry” on a podcast. Those two words felt so impactful.
The pastor defined divine symmetry as: “Things that happen that might seem like a coincidence, but are actually God’s indirect intervention of confirmations/signs of His goodness as you walk in righteousness.”
After hearing these words, I was at a business coaching session and the instructor asked us to rate (on a scale from one to ten), areas of our lives. Scoring things such as; family, work, money, spirituality, friends and self-care.
Based on the scores, we were instructed to place dots on lined arrows and then connect the dots.
The creative in me made arching lines that connected each section rather than drawing straight lines. I knew this wasn’t going to give the accurate results in evaluating which areas of my life needed more attention, but I’m not one to follow the rules. My shape inadvertently made a heart. The business coach looked at my paper and said, “Well, I’ve never seen it done like that before.”
I found myself quickly conforming, connecting the dots in linear format as previously instructed.
As I left that meeting, I was curious about my desire to draw arches.
One thing I know is that imbalance makes me uncomfortable. When something isn’t right, I want to fix it.
Maybe my subconscious was trying to make proportion out of asymmetry.
Living in this realm of imperfection, I long for my imbalanced life wheel to make a beautiful and meaningful shape.
Pastor Greig’s words are a great reminder:
While living in this fallen world, God’s signs reveal I’m on the right path. It helps me remember that someday my lopsided wheel will form a meaningful shape.
In the meantime, I will continually watch for His divine symmetry in my life.
