I’m learning to do this
Dark clouds loomed in the Floridian sky.
The day played out in my mind.
Immersed in the future, a rain drop brought me back to center.
Clouds inched closer.
Droplets created art on the waterway canvas.
I gathered my journal and chair from the dock, getting to the covered lanai just in time.
Rain poured from the sky. My outdoor plans quickly washed away.
The air smelled fresh with possibilities. The wind joined the rain making music, while I playfully twirled under the safety of the covering. A mist brought goose bumps and I felt alive, and, present in the moment.
I’m learning to do this…to stay present.
Neatly folded schedules get dumped out, crumpled, and sometimes rained on.
Certainty is experienced in the here and now, during the storm.
I whispered my new centering word, “rain.”
And I allowed the day to unfold on its own.
“Yes, the Lord keeps raining down blessing after blessing,
and prosperity will drench the land with a bountiful harvest.”
Psalm 85:12 TPT
